Sep 07, 2009 · For most security tags, all the shop assistants use to remove them is just a magnet (stronger than your averaged fridge magnet). If you have a strong magnet(You could get one from an old, not working computer hard drive), all you should need to do is rest the part that sticks out on the magnet and the pins on the inside should lift away.

Almost all security tags are removed by a very powerful magnet, if you take it into a shop they mihgt do it for you if you show them the receipt and explain the situation. Maybe just take it in the next time you make a purchase at a clothes store you use regularly. Oh and just because you didn't hear the alarm doesn't mean it didn't go off.

Just took it out now for my dd and discovered it still has its magnetic security tag on. I took it back to tesco but unfortunately have misplaced the 2 month old bill and hence they won't remove the tag until I find the bill. Funny thing is that it doesn't set their security alarms off when I take it in.
